Image result for great depression woman photo

This photo was taken by Dorothea Lange during the Great Depression in the 1930's, and has become one of the most iconic pictures taken.
The woman in the photo must of come to America due to the American Dream idea thinking she can have more opportunities for a better life in the States. However the Great Depression had cause great poverty which forced her and her children off the land. The woman is gazing distractedly in the distance for hope, and Dorothea Lange thought by taking this picture it will bring this family opportunities.
This image goes against the American ideals as America being the land of opportunity as not everyone is successful only a small handful.
